Makeup Organization, Pinterest and Lots of Youtube Videos

The great part about working for a university is that you get this fantastic break around the Christmas holidays. This year, well now technically last year, I decided to stay in Oklahoma and not travel during this time. Since I did not know what to do with myself, I ended up on Pinterest getting creative ideas and watching Youtube.com videos about makeup organization.  Well to make a long story short, I tore up my bedroom moving furniture, reorganizing drawers, and cleaning out my closet.  However the main thing I ended up being so pleased with was my makeup organization.

If you have watched any youtube videos on makeup organization, you are bound to see the videos with the acrylic drawers that the Kardashian's were using and of course they are really great. So I wanted some but found out they were very expensive and I really did not know where I would put them. My mind just kept reeling trying to figure out some clever ways to organized my makeup on my vanity.  Here is one of the things that I came up with in my madness.

I created a beautiful white two-tier stand for my makeup and face cleansers.  I have this sitting on my vanity now and place the products that I use daily within easy reach.  I am so pleased with the outcome of buying a white plate and saucer from the Dollar Tree store and the vase from Goodwill that I am still amazed with the finished product. Also this was so easy to make.  All I did was hot glue the bottom of the saucer to the top of the vase. Then hot glued the bottom of the vase to the center of the plate.  Voila!

What do you think?

I also organized my brushes using glass vases with rocks and navy beans.  These were the things I had on hand and they worked out wonderfully.  My brushes are so much easier to access now.  This idea came from the Pinterest.  Just love this site.

I am truly pleased with my makeup organization and will do another post on my drawers and cabinets.  Everything is grouped together now and is so easy to find.

January 2012 Fitness Foods BlissmoBox

Happy New Year from Blissmo.  This is how the included card with my Blissmobox starts.  It also states that a year ago is really when Blissmo boxes started.  Like any company, it started small and continues to grow.

One thing they pledge is to keep working hard and honoring their mission of introducing you to products safer, healthier, and better for you, your family, and your planet.  It also states that they are making a lot of improvements, which I would like to see.

I have enjoyed getting the boxes but I am truly questioning whether they are worth the money. The reason being is that they charge me almost a month in advance for my box. Like this box is actually the December box that I paid for on 12/20/11 and received on 1/13/12. Plus I do not think the products are truly worth the $22.00 I pay a month. This is something that I do not like. I also feel very unsatisfied overall with the boxes. One month it is good and then two months of not really liking it.  So it is really hit or miss with me. I have tried to select my box early so I have the most choices but maybe I am just not picking the best boxes for me. I think I am going to try a couple more boxes and if I am still blah, then I will cancel my subscription.

Anyway, here is what I got in my box this month. Right now I have not tried any of these products but I will say they do not look really appealing except the Larabar but looks can be deceiving. I will write a follow up after trying them. The one good thing is that it does introduce me to products but most of them, I probably would not buy on a day-by-day basis.

Included in this box:

Cherry Pie Larabar
Kutoa Blueberry Almond Bar
Foods Alive Mexican Harvest Flax Crackers
Plant Fusion Vanilla Bean Protein Powder
Plant Fusion Chocolate Raspberry Protein Powder
Kopali Organic Mango
Orgain Creamy Chocolate Fudge Nutritional Shake
Orgain Sweet Vanilla Bean Nutritional Shake

January Harlequin Suspense Books

Over a year ago I was reading a book and found a card inside that said I could get two free books.  Well I am always a sucker when someone says free, so I mailed the card and the rest is history.

I have received three to four books each month in the suspense category and have been very pleased with the books that I have read.  I will say the Harlequin suspense club has introduced me to several new authors that I treasure when I get a book by them now.  Another great advantage is a lot of times you are getting the book before it is released to the public.  Isn't this cool.

Saying all this, I wanted to start doing a monthly blog post on the books that I receive each month and I will do reviews on several of them.  This way I can keep track of what I receive and what I am reading.

This month's books include:

Edge of Midnight by Leslie Tentler

The writer becomes the story when crime reporter Mia Hale is discovered on a Jacksonville beach—bloodied and disoriented, but alive. She remembers nothing, but her wounds bear the signature of a sadistic serial killer. After years lying dormant, The Collector has resumed his grim hobby: abducting women and taking gruesome souvenirs before dumping their bodies. But none of his victims has ever escaped—and he wants Mia back, more than he ever wanted any of the others.
FBI agent Eric MacFarlane has pursued The Collector for a long time. The case runs deep in his veins, bordering on obsession…and Mia holds the key. She'll risk everything to recover her memory and bring the madman to justice, and Eric swears to protect this fierce, fragile survivor. But The Collector will not be denied. In his mind, he knows just how their story ends.

Triple Threat by Jan Coffey

This book's timely subject matter, explosive action and quirky characters make it a splendid read for the long Fourth of July weekend. When eight-year-old Chris Weaver witnesses a political crime while on a school field trip, he goes on the lam. The crime in question is the destruction of an authentic Betsy Ross flag that is on display for a morale-boosting Spirit of America presidential tour. A replacement must be found before the climactic Independence Day celebration at the Smithsonian, which is only two weeks away. The FBI sends agent Nate Murtaugh undercover as a wealthy collector of antiquities. He is to gain entry to an exclusive art auction and purchase another antique American flag. Early Americana antique dealer Ellie Littlefield is the obvious person to get him into the right places since she has connections to the art underworld. Meanwhile, Chris dodges the bad guys by hiding in old cars and living off Lucky Charms-until he remembers Ellie, who gave him a ride and her phone number a few days earlier.

Next of Kin by Sharon Sala (favorite author and she lives in my hometown)

Beth Venable has seen too much. Witness to a major mob hit, she's placed in protective custody until the trial. But after her third safe house is riddled with bullets, she goes off-grid to save herself. What the FBI can't do, her kinfolk will.
The beautiful but forbidding Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky welcome Beth back, dirt roads and rustic shacks a world apart from L.A. But her homecoming—even her blissful reunion with strong, silent Ryal Walker—is made bittersweet by the fight she's brought to the clan's doorstep. Hidden in a remote cabin with the man she's always wanted, Beth begins to dream of a new life: her old one. But after so long, with such dangers stalking her…impossible.
But love can distill life down to its essence: an elixir of pure hope, nerve—and the will to survive.

Memories of You by Bobbie Cole

Cold case detective Charlie Vargas is searching for a killer—but what she really needs to know is what happened to her lover, who vanished several months ago. When the phone rings and she hears Seth's voice, she's skeptical. He tells her his name is Mason Aldridge, and the only thing he remembers after his accident is the number he called...hers.
Mason looks nothing like her former lover, but there's something about his mannerisms, if not his face, that draws Charlie in. As they begin to piece together what few clues and skimpy details they have, Charlie and the man she believes is Seth slowly discover a mutual passion. With the Feds following at a distance and someone trying to kill them, will they live long enough to find out his true identity?

Welcome to My New Page

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a fantastic 2011 and are planning on 2012 being even better.  I know I am.  I have already tagged 2012 as the year of organization.

With it being the year of organization, I decided I needed a new blog site because I am going to be posting about new topics like Beauty, Fitness, Food, Photography, Travel, and Crafts.  My other blog, Eat Your Fruit and Veggies is still there and has lots of great posts.  I hope you will visit it also but I will say that I probably will only be posting to this site from now on.

I look forward to interacting with you and hearing your comments.  Let's make 2012 special!
